The Union Labour Minister tabled the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code Bill in Parliament on July 23, 2019.

This is one of the four so called Labour Codes that the big bourgeoisie wanted the NDA government to implement during its first term. It failed at that time, due to resolute opposition from the working class. Having organized to bring the BJP back to power with an even bigger majority, the bourgeoisie is pushing for speedy passing of these four anti working class legislations by parliament, in order to ensure “ease of doing business”.

Lok Raj Sangathan recently launched a campaign for the right to water supply, sanitation, clean and hygienic living conditions, basic health care services, school education facilities, better public transport, etc. for the millions of working people living in slums and resettlement colonies spread out all across Delhi.

Greetings to the working class on a successful All-India strike

On February 28, 2012 the Indian working class, its trade unions and organisations gave a call for an All-India strike in opposition to the proposals of the UPAgovernment for labour reforms in the interest of the capitalists. The strike call was for the defeat of the programme of privatization and liberalization, and against the bail out for the capitalists at the expense of the people.

Nigeria – doctors’ strike

The countrywide strike by doctors in Nigeria is having a widespread impact. The doctors began their strike on August 11. Initially resident doctors struck work to force the government to implement an earlier agreement on wages and working conditions. The resident doctors have now been joined by consultants.
