Farmers raise their voice against the Gujarat government

“Maruti, Go Back” - Battle cry of the Gujarat farmers

More than 5000 farmers and their family members from Hansalpur near Dalod village in Gujarat celebrated the Independence Day on 15th August with slogans of “Maruti, go back!” along with the hoisting of the flag. Maruti Suzuki company has announced a plan to invest Rs. 4000 crore for a big factory in the Bechraji-Hansalpur area.

The struggle for justice must continue, despite all odds

The people’s organisations that have been fighting to put an end to state organized communal and sectarian violence have repeatedly raised the need for invoking the principle of command responsibility.  This could then be applied to hold the Chief Minister of a state or a commander/ chief officer of army/security forces to be held guilty for violating his/her duty and responsibility of ensuring security of citizens.

What is common in all three cases is that the courts, from the trial courts to the Supreme Court, passed political judgments based on concocted evidence by the state. The ruling class whipped up passions and the courts passed judgments accordingly. The court verdicts are a continuation of the policy of state terrorism unleashed by the Indian state against the people in these areas.
