What the Radia Tapes actually expose: Dictate of capitalist monopoly houses is the real content of multi-party representative democracy

For several months, copies of what have come to be known as the Radia tapes have been circulating in the print and electronic media. A great deal of noise is being made by various capitalists and parties that represent them in Parliament about the allotment of 2G Spectrum by the Telecom Ministry, and other lucrative contracts having been distributed on the basis of deals between individual ministers and monopoly capitalists.

US imperialism playing dangerous war games in the Korean Peninsula

On November 23, during a major military exercise conducted off the waters of the Korean peninsula, the South Korean and US forces fired live artillery into the disputed territorial waters in the direction of North Korea. North Korea immediately responded with artillery fire that hit Yonphyong island which houses a South Korean military base along with some civilian population.

Government maneuvers over Food Security Bill: Only a modern universal public distribution system can guarantee the right to food!

The first meeting of an expert group on food took place on 3rd December, 2010. This expert group has been set up by the Prime Minister to examine the recommendations of the National Advisory Council (NAC) on the proposed National Food Security Bill.

Hail the Fourth Congress of our Party

Sir, I am writing to thank you for carrying the report on the Fourth Congress of the Communist Ghadar Party of India that took place in October 2010. The Congress has taken place as we approach the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of our revolutionary and patriotic party, and in the midst of the all round crisis of credibility of the bourgeoisie, its politics and its state. This has also been a period when the objective conditions for revolution have been ripening, whereas it is also the one where the subjective conditions have been definitely lagging behind.

Struggle for Human Rights

Sir, I found the article entitled ``The struggle for human rights is in essence the struggle for proletarian democracy’’ in the December 1-15, 2010 issue of MEL to be of immense value and educational. It is in the highest tradition of scientific analysis of which the CGPI is the fountainhead. It is an article that is necessarily partisan as the CGPI is the vanguard of the working class.

Striking workers in Cochin port win pay hike

Workers of Cochin Port went on strike on 30 November, 2010 for five days. The employees of the India Gateway Terminal in Cochin, owned by DP World, were demanding an increase in wages. The strike action paralysed the transportation of containers to and from the terminal, impacting Christmas and New Year shipments.  One container ship was diverted to New Mangalore Port as a result of the action.
