62 years ago, on 26 January 1950, the present-day Republic of India was proclaimed. This marked the consolidation of the state power of the Indian bourgeoisie, which had taken over power from the British colonialists when they were forced to leave because of the mounting struggles of the people of India.

State assembly elections in Manipur: Issue is to permanently repeal AFSPA and end army rule!

Perpetuation of fascistic army rule and denial of the right to self-determination are the source of the problem. There is widespread opposition to this illegitimate authority. The central state paints such opposition as a threat to the “unity and integrity” of India and uses it as an excuse for continuing its fascist rule.

Contradictions have become increasingly visible between countries, nations and peoples fighting for their sovereignty and the dominant imperialist powers that are imposing their vision on every country. US imperialism has shown its readiness to wage wars to defend its dominant position and those of American multinational corporations. It has unleashed death and destruction in West Asia and North Africa already.

As a newspaper and organisation that is partisan to the workers and toilers, we have been asking the leaders of the working people as to how the toilers of India view the reforms that were started 20 years ago. Whether the working class and people have benefitted from these reforms or have suffered?

Dear Editor,

I read the New Year's message of comrade Lal Singh. It inspires us to work even harder for the proletarian revolution. The whole world is caught in a deep crisis. The burden of the crisis is being shifted on to the backs of the working class. The danger of imperialist wars is spreading as also imperialism and fascism.

Dear Sir,

I read the new year's message of comrade Lal SIngh in the last issue and liked it very much. Our party has developed the line based on Marxism-Leninism based on the conditions existing in our country. We must never waver from this path. I am happy that we have been moving ahead.

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
