As it happens every year, hundreds of workers marched in a rally from Delhi's Ramlila maidan to Town Hall in response to the call of Delhi's Central Trade Unions. Workers, youth, women and children were part of the rally.

The global economy has been sinking deeper and deeper into crisis over the past five years. Unemployment, poverty, inflation and all the diseases of the capitalist system are growing from bad to worse.
Throughout the civilised world the teachings of Marx evoke the utmost hostility and hatred of all bourgeois science (both official and liberal), which regards Marxism as a kind of “pernicious sect”. And no other attitude is to be expected, for there can be no “impartial” social science in a society based on class struggle.
The Indian automobile industry is seething with confrontations between the capitalists and workers. The contradictions are intense as the workers in the sector, numbering about 2 crores, across the country, face insecurity of job, layoffs and early retirement as automakers prune their workforce.

Various Mayday meetings and programs were held all over Chennai by various trade unions. On the morning of Mayday, a gate meeting was held by the VHS Workers Union at their hospital gate. Nurses and hospital workers attended the meeting. The red flag was hoisted by a senior nurse. Com.S.Manidasan spoke of the deteriorating condition of the workers and staff in VHS Hospital.
