Municipal and panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir : Farce of democracy while state terrorism continues unabated

The Indian State’s barbaric rule of terror in Kashmir continues unabated. On the one hand, the police, Army and paramilitary forces continue to fire upon unarmed people, including women and children, carry out rape and plunder with impunity. Innocent people continue to be labeled “dreaded terrorists” and killed in fake encounters, homes are ransacked and looted in the name of “search” operations, youth continue to “disappear” or die in judicial custody. Blinding hundreds of people by firing pellet bullets in the name of “countering stone–pelters”, the use of unarmed youth as “human shields” by tying them in front of army vehicles – all this has been justified by the Army Chief and spokespersons of the Central government. Under the AFSPA, the Army in Kashmir enjoys unrestricted powers to shoot at sight, torture and commit rape, with complete immunity from any legal prosecution. Under the draconian Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act 1978, hundreds of people including minor children are jailed for years on end without any evidence and without ever being brought to trial.

US imperialism is the most ferocious enemy of humanity

ThumbnailSince the end of the Cold War, world imperialism, led by US imperialism, has launched the most ferocious offensive against the working class and people, against the freedom and independence of nations, against the peoples striving for revolution and social progress.

In the US and other capitalist countries, the ruling class has unleashed racism, targeting people on the basis of race, religion, and national origin to smash the united struggle of the working class and people. Imperialism has been attacking all the achievements of humankind in the twentieth century, trying to take the world back into medieval times.

Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act: A barbaric attack on human, democratic and national rights!

The utterly draconian character of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the manner in which it is used to crush the voices of dissent has once again come to the fore. The UAPA is a fascist act that provides legal justification for the most bestial attacks on the human, democratic and national rights of our people. It allows the state to detain innocent people for long periods of time without having to prove them guilty.

Anarchy, violence and terror serve to maintain capitalist rule

In every part of the country, people are facing violence and terror in their daily lives. Hatred is spread against people of a particular religion, caste, race or language. Every week brings fresh news of physical attacks targeted at individuals or groups of people. People are killed and the guilty get away scot free. Progressive thinkers and journalists get assassinated and nobody gets convicted or punished. Political activists and intellectuals get arrested on false charges. Anyone who fights for the rights of any section of the oppressed people is treated as a criminal, branded as “anti-national”, “terrorist supporter”, “Maoist sympathizer” or “Pakistani agent”.

Suddenly in the last few years, news reports of innocent people being viciously killed by mobs have been continuously coming in. This kind of mob killing is called lynching. In order to justify the killing, the victim is falsely accused of this or that crime, like cow smuggling or cow slaughter or carrying out “love jihad”. The murderers capture the lynching on video and disseminate it widely through social media. Presently, most of the victims of lynching are Muslims or Dalits whose occupation is skinning cattle hides.

Marxism emerged as a continuation of the most advanced thought that had been developed by the best minds in 19th century Europe. It was a further development of German philosophy, English political economy and French socialism.

On the 146th birth anniversary of V I Lenin:

Lenin’s teachings on imperialism and the revolution retain their complete validity today

April 22 marks the 146th birth anniversary of VI Lenin. Lenin will always be remembered and honored for his invaluable contribution to the treasury of Marxism — the revolutionary doctrine of emancipation of the working class from the shackles of capitalist slavery. Lenin further developed the theory of Marxism, in the conditions wherein capitalism had reached the stage of imperialism, its final stage, at the end of the nineteenth century.

In 1914, the biggest imperialists of the world had unleashed a devastating world war to re-divide the world amongst themselves. Millions of people were slaughtered in this war for the sake of the profits of the biggest monopolies. In these conditions the Russian working class led by the Bolshevik party rose up in revolution, overthrew the rule of the Tsar, the capitalists and the landlords, and established in its place the rule of the working class in alliance with the toiling peasantry. Lenin will always be remembered as the architect of the Great October Socialist Revolution that shook the world in November 1917.

They must defeat the divide and rule tactic of the ruling class by uniting as one in defence of the rights of all. In the present case, it is by upholding the banner "education for all, jobs for all" , and condemning state repression against any section of the people that they will be able to defeat the divisive agenda of the ruling class... All sections of the people of India are waging a just struggle in defence of their rights, against the attacks of the ruling class and its state. Together, we must wage the struggle with the perspective of establishing a new state with a new economic orientation that will actually guarantee security and prosperity to all.

Blame the central state and its policy for the terror and insecurity faced by the peoples of the North East!

Army rule is the reality in most parts of the North East.  For the peoples of the North-East, the departure of the British in 1947 did not mean the end of colonial rule.  The region has been ruled virtually as a colony from New Delhi right from that time.  When the peoples of this region have demanded their national and political rights, they have been beaten down ruthlessly, and called agents of foreign powers.

Having been at the receiving end of repression and terror at the hands of the central state and its agencies for so many decades, it is natural that the peoples of this region do not trust the central leaders, who are today promising protection for North-Eastern peoples, declaring they are all Indians.  Many of them can see that this is actually a veiled threat; they are being told to better be loyal to the Indian Union and its policy, if they want to feel safe.

The Soviet social-imperialists proclaimed the nefarious theory of “limited sovereignty” to justify their efforts to dominate the countries of people’s democracy in Eastern Europe. In the name of opposing US imperialism, they intervened in the affairs of a number of countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. Only such a party is communist that is organising for the dictatorship of the proletariat!

29th anniversary celebration of the Communist Ghadar Party of India

Various parties that call themselves communist are organising workers, peasants, women and youth behind aims that are contrary to the aim of dictatorship of proletariat.  It is part of our communist duty to dispel the cloak of ignorance and false consciousness that has been spread over the Indian working class. We need to draw a clear line of demarcation between what is communism and what is pseudo-communism.  Only then can we lead the working class on the revolutionary path.  Only then can we unite communists on the basis of cleansing the movement of all forms of bourgeois ideology.  This was one of the most important messages of the paper presented on 25th December.

Condemn state terror and persecution in the name of curbing naxalism!

Halt the capitalist land grab and demand secure livelihood for all!

by Comrade Lal Singh, General Secretary, Communist Ghadar Party of India

According to the Raj Dharma, or science of statecraft, that was preached and practiced in the Indian subcontinent for several centuries before the colonial conquest, it is the duty of the Raja, or the State, to ensure prosperity and protection for all members of society.  The people have the Right to depose, even behead, a Raja who fails to fulfill this duty but instead oppresses the people.

Experience of CPI(M) rule in West Bengal reveals

Capitalist reforms cannot be implemented with a human face

The discrediting of CPI(M) rule is an inevitable result of following the path of managing the bourgeois state for more than thirty years. It is the logical conclusion of expanding the space for capitalism to grow in West Bengal, at the expense of the rights and livelihood of workers and peasants.

Buddhadeb's apology is not acceptable! This is not communism!

Use of force against political rivals and to quell all opposition among the people, for the sake of promoting one’s own party’s interest, has nothing to do with communism. Communists work for advancing the interests of the working class. Their aim is to bring the working class and peasantry to power, not to establish and defend a party dictatorship by fire and sword. It is the bourgeoisie that resorts to violence and terror to safeguard and strengthen its rule.

Condemn the violence unleashed by CPI(M) in Nandigram!

This is not communism! It is state terrorism!

Revenge-seeking by one party against another has nothing to do with communism. The conduct of CPI(M) has nothing to do with the ideology of Marxism. For a party to use violence against its political opponents is against all norms of democracy... What happened in Nandigram is not an aberration or excess. It is the inevitable consequence of the complete merger of the CPIM with the political system and process in India through which the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie is exercised in our country, and its use of the very same instruments and methods to keep the working class and peasantry divided and suppressed as done by other bourgeois parties.

The movement of women emerged as an important political force in its own right, especially in the 1980s. Lok Sabha debate on Gujarat massacres: Parliamentary democracy stinks

After 2 weeks of procedural wrangles between the BJP and the "opposition", the Lok Sabha debated on the Gujarat genocide.
