May day celebrated enthusiastically in Tamilnadu

The Kanyakumari District Committee of the CGPI organized a public meeting at Puthan Sandhai junction to celebrate May Day.

The workers who had gathered for the meeting were addressed by a number of comrades of the Party and the Workers Unity Movement. They explained how the governments at the center and in the state were in the service of the biggest capitalists.

One speaker addressed the burning issue of the soaring cost of electricity. The Central Government is openly assisting private capitalists to charge monopoly prices for electricity, far above the actual cost of production. The power companies have been ensured guaranteed maximum profits through state intervention. On the other hand, the state has refused to address the demand of crores of workers all over the country that their wages be linked with the consumer price index to compensate for the unbearable all round price increase. He concluded by pointing out that the capitalist parties always act in the interest of their class and against the working class and peasantry. He called upon the workers to field workers and peasants candidates from amongst their midst who will fight for the interests of the working people, in the next elections.

Another speaker pointed out that the capitalists were deliberately spreading unscientific views on the question of “who is a worker”. Their aim is to divide the working class on the basis of who earns more and who earns less. We have to explain to the mass of workers that all who earn their living by selling their labour power are workers. We have to build the steel-like unity of the entire working class, in order to win the battle against the capitalists.

A speaker addressed the question of criminalization of politics. Those in positions of power, who have been guilty of organizing genocides and communal massacres as in 1984, 1993, 2002 and so on, have never been punished. We communists have the responsibility of organizing the working class and people to carry out radical changes in the political system and process so that people come to power. This is the necessary condition for ending the criminalization of politics.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Wilson declared: Today our Party is leading the liberation struggle of our people. Our slogan is “Workers, peasants, women and youth, We constitute India, we are its masters!” He called upon on all communists and workers to come forward to strengthen the Party. Building the vanguard party is the most important task which we must carry out in order to advance the revolutionary struggle of our people to victory.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
