Condemn the propaganda about “desi jihadis” in Iraq!

A section of the monopoly news media has been carrying reports about how ‘jihadis’ from India and other countries have been going to Iraq in large numbers, to fight against the authorities and imperialists in that country. This propaganda is part of the imperialist disinformation campaign designed to create confusion about the real origin and nature of the conflict in Iraq and to malign and criminalise people of the Muslim faith.

The Anglo – American imperialists concocted and spread the lie that the then government of Iraq was hoarding “weapons of mass destruction” which allegedly posed a threat to the civilised world. They used this to justify their invasion of Iraq in 2003, raining death and destruction on its people for nearly 10 years. They also tried their best to spread communal and sectarian strife in that country. Twelve years later, they are actively organising and instigating various sectarian forces to completely break up that country, as they have done elsewhere in the past.

For more than a decade now, the Anglo-American imperialists have justified their strategy for the conquest of Asia under the signboard of "war against terrorism", targeting people of the Muslim faith in various countries across the world, including their own.

The present spurt of stories about “desi jihadis” from Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other places in India is along the lines of similar stories reported to be originating from various other countries such as France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. It is part of the continued propaganda offensive against people of the Muslim faith. It is yet another attempt to deflect the anger of the people, who are opposing the Anglo-American imperialists and their war crimes all over the world.

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
