Guest teachers in Delhi escalate their struggle

Guest teachers of government school all over Delhi staged a protest demonstration at the Civil Lines residence of Delhi Chief Minister, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, on December 24, 2015. The teachers were stopped at the police barricades near the Chief Minister’s residence. According to the representatives of the guest teachers, their peaceful demonstration was attacked by the police with water cannons. Although the demonstration had been organized with proper police permission, the demonstrators were lathi charged by the police causing injuries to several of the teachers, two of whom had to be admitted to hospital with serious wounds.

The guest teachers of Delhi are extremely angry with the Delhi government. Representative of the guest teachers, Dr. Rachna said that when the Delhi government was formed, the Chief Minister had promised that all guest teachers would be made permanent, but so far no action has been taken in this regard. She condemned the fact that when the guest teachers staged the demonstration to remind the government of its promises, they were brutally attacked. She expressed the resolve of the guest teachers to continue their struggle until their demands are met.
