US and Israel escalate war threat against Iran

The US and Israel have been systematically escalating the threat of war against Iran for pursuing a program of developing nuclear energy, claiming that the program could also be used to develop nuclear weapon capability.

Speaking on the 64th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel in late April 2012, its Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt Gen Benny Gantz said that Israel is ready, if necessary, to strike Iran, Lebanon and Gaza. He added that the year 2012 will be “critical” to halt what Israel says is an Iranian nuclear arms programme.

A few days later, on the 17th of May 2012, Washington's envoy to Israel said that the US already has plans in place to attack Iran if “other measures fail to stop it developing nuclear weapons”. He said the US hoped diplomacy and sanctions would persuade Iran to alter its nuclear programme, but a military option was "ready".

Despite the fact that the US itself is the power with the largest nuclear arsenal and that it is the only power to have actually used it against human targets, the US imperialists are hypocritically asserting that no other power, especially a power that does not toe its line in world affairs, should be allowed to develop nuclear weapon capability. Six powers - the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany - are trying to persuade Tehran to reduce uranium enrichment and open up its nuclear facilities to inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Talks between Iran and these six powers are due to resume in Baghdad on 23 May 2012, and the remarks of the US envoy to Israel and the Israeli Armed Forces Chief are clearly intended to intimidate Iran prior to these talks. The warmongering of the US and Israel against Iran must be roundly condemned by all those who stand for peace and justice.

Election manifesto of a CGPI supported candidate for Lok Sabha

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation. The truth is that there IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the program for the Navnirman of India.

Manifesto 2014There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program. However, the working class is being prevented from realizing its potential as the leader of all the exploited, and as the grave-digger of capitalism, by those in the communist movement who are spreading harmful illusions and compromising the class struggle.
