Condemn barbaric Israeli aggression on Gaza!

With deepest anger and outrage, MEL condemns Israel’s continuous aerial bombardment and attacks on the people of Gaza that has been continuing for nearly one week, which has resulted in the death of over 150 people and injuries to hundreds more. Hundreds of homes and other buildings in Gaza have been reduced to rubble. Men, women and children are being forced to live with the constant fear of the bombs that rain down on them night and day without any warning. Now Israel is massing its troops along the border with Gaza for a land offensive, and warning the population of northern Gaza to leave, but the people have nowhere to go.

Such unchecked cold-blooded brutality as is being carried out by the Israeli state with great deliberation has few parallels anywhere. It has shocked all justice-loving people the world over, but with US imperialism solidly backing it as always, the Israeli state is showing no signs of backing down.

The United Nations and various big powers are hypocritically calling on both Israel and the Palestinians to cease hostilities. This is complete injustice and misrepresentation of what is going on. It is Israel that is raining death and destruction down on the Palestinians, while the rockets that are being launched from Gaza are in retaliation, and have not resulted in even a single casualty on the Israeli side.

Israel has never accepted that Gaza and the West Bank are territories belonging to the independent Palestinian state, and have tightly controlled all aspects of life in Gaza, including the right of the Palestinian people there to move freely in and out of Gaza. It never accepted that the Palestinian people voted Hamas to power in Gaza with a huge majority in 2006. It openly expressed its opposition to the unity agreement concluded in April this year between Hamas and the Fatah government which controls the West Bank. The present Israeli offensive is not a result of some rockets being launched from Gaza, as is being widely spread in the media, but a result of the well thought out Israeli-US imperialist strategy to browbeat the Palestinian people into submission and not allow them to live peacefully in their own independent state.

Israel cynically used the unsolved abduction and murder of three Israeli youth last month as the excuse to launch its latest attacks. Neither Hamas nor any Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for this crime, but Israel immediately blamed Hamas and proceeded to kidnap and arrest hundreds of Palestinian people in Gaza without a shred of evidence. It expected the Palestinian people to submit to its atrocities, but instead the heroic people of Gaza fought back. The barbaric aerial bombardment and overwhelmingly disproportionate show of force is the Israeli state’s attempt to terrorise the Palestinian people into submission.

The latest Israeli criminal offensive against the people of Gaza deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms by all right-thinking people around the world. The Indian working class and people must come out in opposition to the aggression of the Israeli state against the Palestinian people, which is wholly backed by US imperialism. We must demand that Israel stop its bombardment forthwith, withdraw its troops behind its borders, release all the thousands of Palestinians it has detained, and pay for the damage it has caused. We must demand that the Modi government take a strong stand against the Israeli offensive and not remain silent. The Indian working class and people fully support the right of the courageous Palestinian people to fight back against such blatant aggression on their sovereignty and human rights.

Election manifesto of a CGPI supported candidate for Lok Sabha

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation. The truth is that there IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the program for the Navnirman of India.

Manifesto 2014There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program. However, the working class is being prevented from realizing its potential as the leader of all the exploited, and as the grave-digger of capitalism, by those in the communist movement who are spreading harmful illusions and compromising the class struggle.
