Hundreds of thousands of people marched against the economic attacks on the working people in Spain, Ireland, Greece and the United Kingdom. Severe unemployment, rising prices, cuts in wages, cutbacks on health care and other social services aggravated the falling standards of living that the working people in these countries have been experiencing.

Supreme Court upholds attack on people’s right to contest elections

On December 10, the Supreme Court dismissed a PIL challenging the validity of the Haryana Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act, 2015, which mandates educational and other norms for candidates contesting Panchayat elections.

Guest teachers in Delhi escalate their struggle

Guest teachers of government school all over Delhi staged a protest demonstration at the Civil Lines residence of Delhi Chief Minister, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, on December 24, 2015. They were protesting against the Delhi government’s policy for guest teachers and reminding the government of its promise to make the guest teachers permanent, a promise it has not yet fulfilled.
