Communist parties in India celebrate October Revolution

Communist parties and organisations of workers, peasants, women and youth celebrated the 100 years of the Great October Revolution all across the country. The centenary was marked by hoisting the red flag, taking out colourful rallies and organising seminars and public meetings. Some of the parties held classes for their cadres in several districts.

Celebrations were held all over West Bengal on 7th November in every district of the state. In Kolkata, all the parties of the Left Front, other communist parties, trade unions, women’s organizations and progressive organisations came together at a massive meeting to salute the centenary of the historic event. In Delhi, there was a massive march on 17th November from Mandi House to Parliament Street in which thousands of workers participated and a sea of red flags waved in the air.

Across the country, activists of the communist parties held enthusiastic meetings in several districts of Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Telengana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Manipur and Tripura.

These meetings were addressed by various National Secretaries of the respective parties. Besides the activists of the Party, workers from factories and small manufacturing units across sectors participated in these discussions. All the party offices of the state committees, district committees, sub-divisional committees and local committees were attractively decorated and illuminated in the evening. To mark the centenary, one hundred red flags were raised high atop every Party and Trade Union offices. The main flag was hoisted in the morning by the Party leaders in presence of hundreds of Party workers. Everywhere, the venue for the meetings was decorated with pictures of the great communist thinkers and leaders of the revolution.

At every meeting and seminar held to commemorate the October Revolution, the discussion focused not just on the achievements of the Revolution and establishment of socialism in Russia, but equally also on the lessons for the class in the present situation in India.
