Regional Convention of the AILRSA

The 21st Bi-annual Regional Convention of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) held on 18-19 March 2018 in Muradabad was a resounding success.

Representatives from the Delhi, Muradabad, Lucknow, Meerut, Jind, Firozpur, Pathankot, Ambala, Panipat, Dehradun and Bareilly branches and bodies of the AILRSA vigorously participated in the Convention.

In their speeches the leaders of the organization gave the call to continue the struggle for demands that they had been fighting for.

Representatives of the All India Guards Council and Mazdoor Ekta Committee also participated in the convention.

Cultural programmes were presented to enthuse the participants in the convention.

On the second day of the convention the running staff (loco pilot) took out an energetic rally with large numbers. The rally passed through the Muradabad railway colony, DRM Office, Muradabad railway station and reached the railway entertainment house. Slogans like “Inqualab Zindabad (Long live revolution)”, “Mazdoor ekta zindabad (Long live workers unity)”, “Jo humse takraega, rail khadi karvaega (If you counter us, the railways will come to a stand-still)”, “Railway mein nijikaran murdabad (Down with privatization of railways)” and “Punjivaad murdabad (Down with capitalism)” were raised at the rally.

The previous committee of the convention was dissolved and the new committee was elected. At the end, a proposal to continue the struggle was passed.

Dharna by the Indian Railway's engine drivers

On 15th March 2018, the engine drivers of the Indian Railways went on a dharna under the leadership of AILRSA in support of their long-standing demands at the engine driver lobbies all across India. Dharna took place from 10 in the morning to 4 in the evening. Thousands of engine drivers took part in these actions throughout India.

The demands of the loco drivers are:

  1. Mileage rate to be fixed according to RAC 1980
  2. The grade pay of Assistant Loco Pilot to be fixed at 2800-5400
  3. The tool kit to be secured in the engine itself
  4. Close down the New Pension Scheme
  5. Ensure eight and nine hours duty for goods and passenger / MEMU trains, respectively
  6. Weekly off should be 46 hours
  7. Railway Ministry to implement the recommendations of the High Powered Committee (HPC) and SLSRC
  8. Stop the practice of single man working in MEMU trains

    100 years ago Ghadar Party was formed by Indians in the US.It was historic milestone in our anti-colonial struggle.

    The goal of this party was to organise a revolution to liberate our motherland from British servitude and establish a free and independent India with equal rights for all. It believed this to be the necessary condition for our people to hold their heads high anywhere in the world.
