Statement of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, November 19, 2018
On November 18, as hundreds of people belonging to the Nirankari sect were offering prayers in Adliwal village in Amritsar district, two terrorists forcibly entered their prayer hall and hurled a grenade at them. Three people were killed and over twenty men, women and children suffered injuries in this attack.
The Communist Ghadar Party of India condemns this dastardly terrorist attack. There can be no justification for such an attack on a peaceful religious congregation who are practicing their own faith. No political force fighting for the liberation of people from oppression can ever support or carry out such a crime.
Whosoever organized this terrorist attack has the aim of inciting hatred amongst followers of different faiths in Punjab. The aim can only be to spread anarchy and violence in Punjab and other parts of India.
The people of Punjab cannot afford to forget the terrible experience of the eighties and nineties. Anarchy and violence, terrorism and state terrorism together served to destroy the unity of the people and disrupt their struggle for their rights. Many innocent people were killed in terrorist attacks. Thousands of people were brutally tortured and murdered in fake encounters and their bodies thrown into the canals. The struggle of the people of Punjab for their rights was drowned in rivers of blood.
Ever since that time, anarchy and violence has been increasingly spread throughout India. Divisions amongst people on the basis of religion have been deliberately sharpened. People are attacked for upholding their religious beliefs. Their places of worship are attacked and they are deliberately terrorized and humiliated. The unity and solidarity of our people is being more and more threatened. The political parties of the ruling class have worked to sharpen divisions amongst the people by inflaming passions on the basis of religion.
The monopoly controlled news media is indulging in wild speculations as to who organized the Amritsar terror attack. The aim of this kind of speculation is to spread fear amongst the people.
People must reflect in a cool and calm manner as to who benefits from spreading anarchy and violence, terrorism, and religious strife in Punjab and India. They must oppose all political forces which justify terrorism, or incite religious strife.
The Communist Ghadar Party of India appeals to people of Punjab to oppose all attempts to disrupt their unity.
