Guest teachers protest in Delhi

Guest Teachers hold dharna in front of Delhi Education Minister's residence

Hundreds of guest teachers protested on 3rd March 2019 in front of the residence of the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education in Delhi in support of their long standing demands. The immediate reason for their protests is that unlike in previous years when their contracts were valid till 10th May, this year their contracts have been terminated in February and the contracts have not been renewed, rendering over 25000 guest teachers jobless.

One of the active protestors Dr.Rachna told Mazdoor Ekta Lehar that a Bill to make guess teachers permanent and fixing annual increments for them was tabled in the Delhi Assembly in 2017. The teachers also wanted to remind the Delhi government that it had not fulfilled its promise of make guest teachers permanent in the last four years. This is the reason why since 2009, Delhi’s government school teachers have been forced to continue their protests.

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no
alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation
and privatisation. The truth is thatthere IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s
needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the
program for the Navnirman of India.
