"The Indian state is responsible for the demolition and massacre", this is the only conclusion any sensible and unbiased person would draw from the above facts and analysis. While the facts are indisputable, the analysis is scientific and extremely sharp. One important point to note is that the state unleashes such kind of frenzy, and terror, when it is in crisis, when it plans to implement unpopular and anti-people measures, and towards this end to defeat the opposition of the people, it creates divisions on religious and other basis. This is borne out by our experience. 1984 massacre of Sikhs was followed by the slogans of "efficiency" and "modernization", which was precursor to the "economic reforms" of 1990's, coinciding with the demolition of Babri Masjid, and massacre in Mumbai and Surat. The launch of second generation of these reforms in 2002 went together with genocide of Muslims in Gujarat, ensuring that the opposition to the anti-social reforms remains divided.
This is not just a matter of history, but an urgent point for action. The rulers are in deep crisis. Learning from all these experiences, as the people are gathering and uniting against the massive price rise, further opening up of economy, economic slowdown, the ruling classes are not going to leave out this time-tested weapon of communalism and state terrorism, to divide and dissipate our forces. The recent attacks on people of North-East must be seen in this light.
We must be vigilant, against all those who are raising divisive issues and build our unity. They are acting on behalf of the Indian State, doesn't matter whose cause they claim to espouse.
The growing unity of people against communal and sectarian violence organised by the State, can be seen in the massive demonstrations in Delhi and other places to demand punishment for those guilty of 1984 Sikh massacre, demolition of Babri Masjid and following the massacre, and 2002 Gujarat genocide. People are refusing to forget those genocidal crimes, and are uniting against all odds.
I thank CGPI for presenting the facts in perspective and providing clear analysis, to show the path forward.
