Roots of fascism lie in monopoly capitalism

Sir,

I am writing to thank you for carrying the important and topical article entitled `68th anniversary of the victory over fascism: The roots of fascism lie in monopoly capitalism’ in the June 1-15, 2013 issue of MEL. The article is in the finest tradition of Marxist-Leninist scholarship and lays bare the facts that gave rise to fascism and eventually to World War II. Indeed, as the article points out, it is the bourgeoisie that has a committed project to obfuscate the reasons that gave rise to these tragedies. Part of their strategy is to deny the role of the USSR in defeating the Axis powers.

The important point that the article makes is that as long as monopoly capitalism is present there is the ever present danger of the rise of fascism again. The article also points out that this danger has become acute due to the deepening all around crisis in the capitalist system. This has resulted in the attacks of

the rights of the people all over the world, under this or that pretext. Machiavellian methods are being used to disarm and disempower the people on an unparalleled scale. Under the mantra of `austerity’ and `fiscal responsibility’ the system is ensuring maximum profits for monopolies and finance capital, while the masses are faced with unemployment and ruination. The people of India are also being subject to savage attacks by the bourgeoisie, under the guise of protecting the parliamentary system. It is commendable that the CGPI has pointed out exactly where the rise of fascism in India lies. I would like to further commend the CGPI for pointing out that great vigilance is required in this time of crisis and that the people and the working class not be diverted and distracted from the struggle for rights.

Sincerely,

A. Narayan, Bangalore

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
