I am writing to congratulate the CC of the CGPI for its highly informative and principled statement dated 12th December, 2013 entitled “Bourgeois rule must be replaced by worker-peasant rule! Build Shram Shakti Morcha in the course of escalating the struggle against globalisation through privatisation and liberalisation!” issued in the wake of the results of the elections to five states that took place towards the end of 2013.

These elections were supposed to be gauging the mood of the electorate as the country prepares for general elections to the Lok Sabha in 2014. It is important for all of us in the revolutionary camp to study the trends from such events and to take stock of the situation and prepare the theoretical and practical line in the era of complete strangulation of the polity by the bourgeoisie.

If there is one striking conclusion that can be drawn from the experience of the 2013 elections, then it is best summarized in the sentence in the statement that reads “While parties and governments change, the State remains unchanged as the organ of bourgeois rule.” Furthermore, the statement spells out the following: “The State is an organ to defend the system of exploitation and plunder, using organised and systematic violence to crush all resistance on the part of the exploited workers, peasants, tribal peoples and other oppressed sections.” That being the case, the statement clearly makes the call: “The apparatus of the Old order, wielded by the Indian bourgeoisie to advance its narrow interest, has to be completely destroyed and replaced by a new State, an apparatus of the New order, based on a new Constitution. This is the immediate political task facing the working class and communist movement.’’

Keeping all the above in mind, communists must now prepare for the difficult road ahead, and also be aware of all the dangers that lie in this path. In particular, the greatest danger is the one of giving in to illusions that there can actually be a way forward in compromising with the bourgeoisie. The experience of the CPI(M) that compromised with the bourgeois line is one to keep in mind. Any temporary gain that can be made in the path of compromise will lead to a long term destruction of the working class party.

The only solution is the revolutionary transformation of society and a complete break with the past. The reorientation and the establishing of a worker-peasant state would go hand in hand in this historical change of the orientation of society. At this time, this struggle must be waged in the sphere of opposing the bourgeoisie’s plans of continued intensification of exploitation, through their mantra of liberalization and privatization. Let us all unite on this historical mission. Let us thank the CC of the CGPI for its advanced theoretical preparation in this era.

Sincerely,

Narayan, Bangalore
