New Year Message

Sir,

I am writing to thank Com. Lal Singh, General Secretary of the CGPI of his New Year's Message which is appropriately entitled 'Let us prepare for the coming revolutionary storms!'. The message lays out very clearly, in the highest traditions of Marxism-Leninism what the causes are for the present state of
affairs in the country, and also gives the blueprint for the road ahead on which the long march has begun. The central point of the message is that the Ghadar was betrayed over 150 years ago and the country continues to reap the bitter harvest of this treachery. The message spells out that the task ahead for revolutionaries is the smashing of the State and the laying of the foundations of a new State that would be an instrument for the liberation of the people of India from all forms of enslavement, exploitation and plunder. The message recalls the work of revolutionaries of the pre 1857 age and seeks to inspire the present generation of fighters. It also points out the traitorous legacy of today's rulers of India.

The message points out that there were two conflicting trends in the period between 1857 and 1947 in the struggle for the liberation of India from colonial masters, viz., one that strove to conciliate with the colonial masters and the other that strove to break with the system of exploitation and enslavement. The message brings to fore the struggle today, which is one of the path of conciliation with the capitalist-imperialist system, and the other which is the path of a complete break with the neo-colonial system of plunder. Secondly, the first trend defends the present state and seeks to merge with it, while the other plays itself out as a striving for a new State that would be in the hands of the workers and peasants. The message reminds us that the Communist movement has as its emblem the hammer (workers) and the sickle (peasants) and five pronged star which represent the five continental masses on which mankind lives. It is through such signs that we recall the international nature of the task of the Communist movement. In this regard, it is pointed out that in India we must look into our own traditions of philosophy and political theory and free ourselves of colonial bondage of our minds. By doing so, we would be able to herald the new day for all the people's of the world. I thank Com. Lal Singh for the timely message and for the sober assessment and for pointing out that there is no time to rest.

Sincerely,

A. Narayan, Bangalore

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no
alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation
and privatisation. The truth is thatthere IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s
needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the
program for the Navnirman of India.
