Call of the Party

Sir,

The ground reality of the political economy is the object of the science and a dispassionate study of the political economy requires the most advanced tools which are based on dialectical materialism and class struggle. The statement of the CC of the Party of 3rd October 2014 on the Haryana Assembly Election 2014 reflects the conclusions of such a study.

What this show us is that at this point in history, India is completely dominated in all spheres by the stranglehold of the bourgeoisie. At the other pole is the working class which has the historical mission of liberating the people of India. The bourgeoisie in India having seized all the instruments of the state, operates through bourgeois democracy, and its inherent contradictions play out at the time of elections. What election manifestos and outcomes of elections reveal are the fault lines within the bourgeoisie and its bankruptcy, and its ability to carry out fire fighting and its continuous advance of its class interest. On the other hand, it is these very contradictions that allows the working class to push its agenda forward, and today is no exception.

The statement analyses the special place of Haryana as a crucible for the policies of liberalization and privatization, and as one where the bourgeoisie has tested its policies. These have played themselves out with Haryana becoming a high income state, with a simultaneous growth of poverty and desperation at the other pole. It is a major manufacturing centre now for all sectors of the economy including hardware, electronics, automobiles and so forth, and a region which has seen a huge devastation of the peasantry. It is also a region which has seen a huge influx of capital, domestic and foreign, and yet boasts of the worst social evils and mass unemployment. It is also often in the news for the most fascist handling of any kind of labour disputes.

In short, it is one of the most troubled spots in the country, the well spring of the troubles being unbridled capitalist growth. It is a region where the Congress has nearly a decade of uninterrupted rule and is on the verge of being thrown out by one of several other big bourgeois parties. One thing is for sure: no matter who comes to power, the suffering of the people will increase. The elections are only meant for turning over the ability to plunder and loot from one set of hands to another. Nevertheless, it must be noted that the people of Haryana have not been idle spectators. There have been mass demonstrations against the various methods of loot and plunder and opposition in the ranks of the peasantry. There have been numerous strikes and mass labour unrest. These have, of course, been met with state terror which is the modus operandi of the bourgeoisie. Communists have been at the forefront of organzing the struggle.

In this environment, it is necessary to put forward an alternative vision so that the people of Haryana know that the bourgeoisie can and should be defeated. It is important to unite at this time and put forward a platform that can bring everyone together. The CGPI has put forward this call to all progressive forces. It has shown that bogey that are the “acche din” and the “Make in India” slogans of the BJP. It has put forward a multi-point program to provide for the people of India. It has shown that human beings require basic needs to lead a human life. The statement ends with a call for concrete political reforms towards People’s Empowerment. May the work of the CGPI go forward!

Sincerely,

S. Nair, Kochi
