Struggle of “Guest” teachers

Guest teachers working in Delhi schools held a demonstration under the leadership of the All Guest Teacher Association before the Delhi Secretariat on 15th January, in support of their demand for regularisation.

Starting 27th January, the teachers, men and women, intensified their struggle by launching an indefinite fast. On 29th January, the Delhi State Ministry of Education threatened the teachers with dismissal if they did not withdraw the fast.

The demands of the guest teachers are as follows:

  • That guest teachers’ contracts which will expire on 10th May 2014 be renewed and their appointment be regularized
  • That the posts currently occupied by guest teachers not be treated as vacant and the present teacher be made permanent in that post
  • That guest teachers be paid at par with Corporation School teachers and their not cut for leave days

Mazdoor Ekta Lehar supports these demands of the guest teachers.
