Close to 2500 drivers and conductors of the DTC are on strike since 27th January.  They are sitting in dharna in front of the Indraprasth Millenium Bus Depot at the time of filing this report.

The striking employees have accused the Delhi Chief Minister of failing to keep his promise of regularizing contract employees.  For his part, the Chief Minister has said that the process of regularizing  contract employees will begin once the committee set up to look into the issue submits its report. The government has threatened the employees that the DTC management is trying to get replacements for them. It was reported that the contract employees of DTC had met with the Chief Minister a month ago and had been asked to wait for one month.
