Working Class Conference on the Way Forward held in Mumbai

The Maharashtra Regional Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party organized a Conference on the WAY FORWARD on March 25, 2012 in Dadar, Mumbai. From veteran trade union leaders of different sectors of the economy, to young student youth and youth workers in different sectors, the Conference saw a wide cross section of comrades active in organizing the class in Maharashtra participating enthusiastically.

The conference was initiated by a presentation by Com.Prakash Rao, Spokesperson of the Central Committee of the Party, on the theme "Measures to prepare the working class for political power".

The speech elaborated that the crisis of capitalism worldwide and in India pointed to the urgent necessity for the working class to take power in its own hands.

The speech pointed out that the state was not a non class organ standing over society. It is a product of society; it consists of real men and women serving the ruling class. The state in our country is a state of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. This state can only serve the bourgeoisie, it is their state. It cannot be used by the working class. When we say working class must establish its own political power, we mean that the working class must establish its own state, the dictatorship of the proletariat, in place of the present state of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie has worked out an entire political system and process which it calls multi-party democracy to ensure its rule. The working class works for establishing proletarian democracy through which working class will rule in alliance with the peasantry.

The major roadblock to preparing the workers for political power is the fact that top leadership of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) continues to foster illusions amongst the most active members of the class, that this state, this bourgeois democracy, can serve both capitalists and workers. On every question where the ruling class divides the working class, the Central Committee of CPI(M) contributes to the division rather than exposing the bourgeoisie's aims.

The following important measures that must be taken to prepare the working class for its main aim – to take political power, were put forward by Com. Prakash Rao

We must step up the work to build party organizations in the midst of workers in their factories and workplaces.

We must further develop ways to engage the leaders and activists of the working class to elaborate and develop the independent program of the working class which our Party has put forth.

We must step up the work to ensure that activists from different sectors of the economy come together to learn from each other's experiences, to organize solidarity actions, and thus build the unity of the class.

While doing this work, we must expose and isolate the erroneous anti working class, anti-revolutionary line of the CPIM leadership which is putting blinkers on workers eyes and trying to divert us from our goal.

We must continue the work of organizing more such conferences. We are educating ourselves in the theory and tactics of revolution and we must attract more and more comrades to become part of this discussion.

Over 20 comrades intervened enriching the discussion. The Conference ended in an enthusiastic atmosphere, with the confidence that the future belongs to the working class.

Call of the Central Committee of Communist Ghadar Party of India, 30th August, 2012

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
