Bhagat Singh's statue unveiled in Nohar

A statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was unveiled on 8th February 2016 in a packed public meeting at Bhagat Singh Chowk in Nohar, Rajasthan. The statue was installed on 26th October 2015 after a lot of struggle with the police and administration. The district administration refused to give permission inspite of a pending application. The people of Nohar re-affirmed their determination to make the dreams of our martyrs come true, and went ahead with the unveiling of the statue.
Prior to this, on 3rd February 2016, various people's organisations had sent a delegation under the leadership of SFI to seek permission for unveiling the statue. However, till 8th February, permission had not been accorded.
Readers will recall that the November 16-30, 2015 issue of Mazdoor Ekta Lehar carried a report that the residents of Nohar Tehsil in Hanumangarh district went ahead with the decision of installing the statue on 26th October after their request had remained pending for 25 years. Bhagat Singh chowk was establihed in Nohar on 29th Sept 1985 by the All India Students' federation and all other progressive organisations of the people. Subsequently, the Nohar residents had remained persistent in their demand to have the statue of Bhagat Singh installed there.
The public meeting organised at the time of unveiling the statue saw various prominent leaders address the gathering, including Hanuman Prasad Sharma, the All India Vice President of Lok Raj Sangathan, Comrade Niyamat Ali, Abhitej Sandhu, the grandson of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, ex-MLA Hetaram Beniwal, Balwan Punia, Mangej Chaudhary, the National Secretary of SFI, Shyopat Meghwal, Priyanka Chaudhary, the Student wing in-charge, Harisingh Dadareva of Elan-e-Inquilaab, V. K. Sharma, Amit Chaaran, Suresh Swami and Anil Shyoran, and others.
Addressing the gathering the Vice President of LRS, Hanuman Prasad Sharma said that the country which is putting those who want to install statues of our martyrs in jails and making false accusations against them is in urgent need of a escalation in the movement for people's empowerment. We can truly honour our martyres only if we are able to rid our country of the exploitation and oppression faced by our people and establish a system where power to take decisions will be vested in the people.
Balwan Punia said that the governments are more interested in the welfare of the capitalists rather than those of the farmers. This is the reason why so many farmers are committing suicide. That is why we have to ignite the sparks of another revolution with the inspiring ideas of Bhagat Singh.
Mangej Chaudhary talked about the struggle to installing the statue of Bhagat Singh and pledged to make the place worth visiting.
The meeting honoured those comrades who have been slapped with false cases by the police.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
