The Obama administration began the aerial bombing of Syria on September 22, allegedly in order to destroy the ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and Syria). These aerial strikes follow the bombing of many places in Iraq. On September 23, a Tomahawk cruise missile hit a village in Idlib Province in Syria, killing as many as a dozen civilians, including women and children. Hundreds more innocents have been killed and injured in Iraq and Syria.
The US has formed a “coalition of the willing” including various NATO member states such as the United Kingdom, France and Canada, as well as many West Asian states to carry out these attacks on Syria. Meanwhile, reports from the ground indicate that the ISIS fighters continue to steadily make inroads into more and more regions of Iraq and Syria, including parts of the Kurdish territory and even neighbouring Turkey.
The bombing of Syria in the name of destroying the ISIS is part of a carefully worked out strategy to carry out regime change in Syria, and redraw the map of West Asia. All developments are clearly showing that under the guise of war against terrorism, the US imperialists are trying to establish their complete domination of the West Asia region. The US imperialists and their allies are the biggest terrorists in the world. They sponsor both overtly and covertly various terrorist groups in different countries, to spread anarchy and violence, and prepare grounds for regime change.
The ISIS is a creation of the US imperialists and their allies, as part of their attempt to overthrow the Assad regime in Syria over the past three years. They have organized and supported the armed insurgency in Syria against the Assad government, providing it with money, weapons, training and massive media propaganda. The present round of aerial attacks, which are being portrayed as a new war against a new enemy (the ISIS), are in fact a continuation of their three year old war against the Syrian state, aimed at bringing to power in that country a regime which will act completely in accordance with the plans of the US imperialists for domination over West Asia.
The method employed by the US imperialists and their allies, in the name of countering ISIS, is a continuation of what they have been practising ever since the end of the Cold War, to achieve their complete domination over the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. In particular, those countries of West Asia whose governments have not been willing to completely toe the line of the US imperialists, but have tried to establish their own economic and political systems in order to control their own natural resources and defend the interests of their own nations, have been the target of the Anglo American imperialists.
Apart from outright aggression and occupation of Iraq for more than 10 years and the devastation of that country with its ancient civilization and rich natural and human resources, which is now being continued through the ISIS, the Anglo American imperialists have used similar methods in Egypt, Libya and Syria as well. This involves the organizing, financing, arming, training and providing support and protection to various terrorist sectarian militia groups, working in coordination with the American and British intelligence agencies. It involves the spreading of chaos and anarchy, sectarian strife and bloodshed. It involves the imposition of crippling sanctions and threats of outright military aggression. The peoples of these nations are paying a heavy price for this, with their lives.
The bombing of Syria by the Anglo American imperialists is an action that runs counter to all international norms and UN principles. Based on present UN regulations, when the Security Council remains seized with a matter, a member State of the United Nations is not permitted to go to war. The Security Council remains seized with Resolution 2178 concerning the threat posed by international terrorism. The UNSC blocked the demand for a U.S. invasion of Syria to bring about regime change. However the U.S and its allies continue to implement their military aggression against that country under the cover of opposing terrorism.
US imperialism and its allies have openly declared that they do not uphold the sovereignty of other peoples and countries. The course they are pursuing is fraught with grave dangers for all the peoples of the world. The aggressive actions of the Anglo American imperialists must be resolutely opposed. The situation requires that all peace-loving people adopt a principled position in defence of the sovereignty of all countries, big and small. With all the experience of the last more than 20 years, people must reject the claim of US imperialism that it is a factor for peace anywhere in the world, that it has the indispensable responsibility to protect people of other countries from their own regimes.
NO to US aggression and interference in Asia!
