Those in power must be held accountable for their crimes

Those in positions of power and authority should be held accountable and guilty when they violate their duty and responsibility of providing safety and protection to the citizens. Only if law is based on the principle of command responsibility can parties and officials guilty of organising such crimes be convicted, and not merely the goons used to execute it.

On September 10, thousands of public school teachers in Chicago went on strike, opposing education reforms proposed by the city's mayor, which have been endorsed by the Obama government. Nearly 29,000 teachers were reported to be on strike.    > read more

Turkish people say ‘No to war’ against Syria!

Thousands of protesters poured into the streets of Turkey’s biggest city Istanbul on October 3, 2012 to oppose the prospects of their country getting involved in a war with neighbouring Syria. The protests were sparked off by the Erdogan Government using its parliamentary majority to get the legislature to give it permission to launch hostilities against “foreign countries”.    > read more

Protest against illegal lockout

Production has been shut down in the five units of Eastern Medikit Ltd, located in Gurgaon, since May 18, 2012. The workers of the company, under the leadership of the All India Medikit Employees Unions, have been waging a struggle against this illegal lockout over the last 5 months.    > read more

Protests against Voltas Limited (Tata Group)

The All-India Voltas India Employees Federation protested at Jantar Mantar on September 29, 2012 to oppose the anti-worker policies of Voltas Limited (Tata Group). This Tata company manufactures air conditioners and air cooling systems for large plants. Voltas Limited has entered into several agreements with the workers union, but the management says it will not accept any bipartite agreement.    > read more
