Protests at Parliament against the growing attacks on people

Several organisations demonstrated at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to protest against the growing attacks and atrocities against Muslims, Christians, Dalits and tribal people across the country. Jamait-e-Islami Hind, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushavarat, Jamiyatul Ulema Hind, Jamiyat Ahele Hadis, Lok Raj Sangathan, Akhil Bharatiya Shia Council, All India Student Islamic Organisation, APCR and Lok Samiti organized the demonstration. Representatives of all the organisations addressed the meeting.

All the speakers condemned the country-wide attacks targeted at various communities. They condemned the involvement of the state and the security forces in these attacks. They called on all the people to spoil these attempts to break our unity, to take the struggle forward for demanding punishment of the guilty and ensuring that the victims get justice.

All the participating organisations signed a petition that was submitted to the President Pranab Mukherjee demanding that Enquiry Commissions be set up to investigate all the cases of violence targeted at specific communities, to ensure that various state governments pay adequate compensation and provide relief to the victims of such attacks, to stop the media from spreading poisonous propaganda against various communities and that the Communal Violence Prevention Bill be passed as a law at the earliest.
