Meeting of Communist and Left parties at Parliament in opposition to demonetization

A rally was organised on 28th November by the Delhi State Commitees of seven communist and left parties – CPI, CPI(M), CPI(M-L) Liberation, Communist Ghadar Party of India, SUCI (Communist), All India Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party. The rally marched from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar against demonetisation.

Workers, students, women, teachers and various professionals participated in large numbers in the rally, along with the party activists. They held placards with slogans against demonetization.  These were,  “Terrorism and corruption will not be eliminated by demonetization”, “Demonetization is the agenda of the monopoly capitalist houses”, “Corruption is a necessary feature of capitalism”, “US imperialism is the organizer of terrorism worldwide”,  “Unite against the strategic Indo-US alliance”, “Country’s wealth  belongs to the workers and toilers, not to a handful of exploiters”, etc.

The rally converted to a meeting at Parliament. Slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad”, “Down with capitalism”, “Whoever is a friend of the capitalists is a traitor to the country” rent the air.

Among those who addressed the meeting were Com. Sitaram Yechury – General Secretary CPI(M),  Com. Atul Kumar Anjan – National Secretary CPI,  Com. Kavita Krishnan – member of Polit Bureau CPI(M-L) Liberation, Com. Prakash Rao – spokesperson of Communist Ghadar Party of India, Com. Satyavan -member of CC of SUCI (communist), Com. G.Devarajan – General Secretary AIFB, and Com. R.S. Duggar of RSP.

The speakers condemned outright the Modi government’s demonetization and said it was the agenda of the bourgeoisie. They clarified that, contrary to the Prime Minister’s claim, neither terrorism nor corruption was going to get eliminated by this move. CGPI’s spokesperson demanded the snapping of ties with US imperialism, the organizer of terrorism across the world and called on all political forces to unite on this demand.
