State terrorism in Manipur

Dear Editor,

The statement of the Communist Ghadar Party of India on occasion of elections to the Manipur Assembly clearly explains how these elections will make no difference to the people.

The Central Government will not repeal AFSPA because it wants to continue the loot of Manipur and the rest of the North East. This loot is for the benefit of the big capitalists. It is for this that the people of the North Eastern states are forcibly kept in India, and denied their right to self-determination. Time and again the right to life of the people in North-East has been violated by the use of state terrorism.

The statement explains how the people of Manipur and the entire North East, have been continually waging struggles against the repressive measures of the army and the state; how heroically the people there have been raising their demand to repeal AFSPA, demanding the right to life and the right to self-determination. It is not the struggles of the Manipuris which are anti-national but the divisive policies, army rule and state terrorism unleashed there that is anti-national. The statement excellently points out that the insurgency in North Eastern regions is due to the barbaric army rule imposed there and not the other way round;and that it is not going to end until AFSPA is repealed from the entire North Eastern region.

Today the need is to support the demands of our Manipuri brothers and sisters. I extend my solidarity and stand by every progressive struggle of my north eastern brothers and sisters.

Today the rights of the people, not only in North east but throughout the country, are under attack. The enemy causing all the misery to the people in our country is the same – the Indian ruling class headed by the capitalist monopoly houses. The need is to unite and wage a struggle against the capitalist monopoly class, to overthrow the prevailing system and replace it with a socialist system.
