Massive 3-day workers rally in Delhi

For three days, November 9, 10 and 11, wave upon wave of workers from every state of the Indian Union joined in the massive All India workers protest (mahapadav) outside parliament. It was a veritable sea of workers. Red flags, placards proclaiming the demands of workers and banners of the participating unions adorned the mahapadav. It was literally a workers festival. Leaders of the working class addressed the workers, cultural workers sang songs in different languages inspiring the workers to step up their struggle for a society free from all forms of exploitation and oppression.

Over three lakh workers participated in this mahapadav. There were workers from different sectors of the economy — power plants, steel plants, road transport, defence, education, and many other sectors. Over one lakh women workers including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and Mid-day Meal workers from all the states of India were there. Such was the enthusiasm of the workers that each day, the number of workers kept increasing. Even when the mahapadav had officially concluded at 5 pm on November 11, delegations of workers were still arriving at the rally site to join it.

The Communist Ghadar party of India congratulates the working class of our country for this magnificent action. Workers are returning to their districts and states and workplaces, with great enthusiasm and heightened resolve to step up the united struggle against the capitalist offensive in defence of their rights. A plan of action to step up the united struggle over the next few months culminating in an indefinite All India general strike has been announced.

In every district and town, in every industrial area, in every sector of the economy, we must redouble our efforts to forge unity of the workers against the attack on our rights. We must build and strengthen workers unity committees everywhere. Such committees help to bring activists of different parties and trade unions to come together to discuss the burning political problems of the day, set the agenda for the class, and provide collective leadership to the common struggle of the class.

We must patiently keep explaining the truth to all workers that the anti-social offensive will not end by replacing the BJP led government by a Congress led government through parliamentary elections. Our enemy is the capitalist class in power which is headed by about 150 biggest monopolies, and not merely this or that party. All parties that comes to power in this system will implement the anti-worker, anti-peasant, anti-social and anti-national agenda of this capitalist class in power. We must insist that all parties and organisations of the working class focus on the key question: how can we end this rule of an exploiting minority and establish workers and peasants rule in our country? We must not get diverted from this question on any pretext.Let us work vigorously to prepare the working class for the coming battles.

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation. The truth is that there IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the program for the Navnirman of India.

Manifesto 2014There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program. However, the working class is being prevented from realizing its potential as the leader of all the exploited, and as the grave-digger of capitalism, by those in the communist movement who are spreading harmful illusions and compromising the class struggle.
