Letters to Editor: Navnirman of the Republic

I am writing to thank you for carrying the Statement of the CC of the CGPI dated 10-1-2019 in the January 16-31, 2019 issue of MEL. This statement was issued to mark the 69th anniversary of the Indian Republic and was entitled `Times are calling for the Navnirman of the Indian Republic.' The lessons herein are a guide to action. It would be appropriate to remind ourselves as to what the main points are in bullet form which may be expressed as under:

that there is a fundamental gap between what the Indian Republic claims it is, and what it actually is,

that the supreme power in India is held by a small clique, and the elected representatives do not represent the interests of the working people and peasants,

that it is the capitalist class that wields the supreme power, and it influences the outcome of every election,

that all the policies of successive governments allow the rich to grow richer,

that 69 years ago the supreme power passed from British hands to that of the Indian capitalist class, and all the hopes of the people lie in ruins today, as the capitalists rule through ballot and bullet,

that the problem is not with two- or multi-party system, but with the system itself, and that the Cabinet is not answerable to anyone, as seen in the case of the Emergency in 1975 or demonetization in 2016,

that the so-called people's mandate is infact bogus, and that there are numerous fascist laws,

that the rights of the nations constituting India are crushed,

and the rights of people who are born and raised in the country are denied under the bogey of being `illegal' immigrants,

and that the Republic exists only to protect the `rights' of the exploiters.

That said, there is experience in India as in the case of the revolutionary upsurge before 1947 and especially in the work of the Hindustani Ghadar Party and other organizations to come to terms with the contrary trends of compromise with the revolutionary thread and support of liberal democracy to safeguard the rights of capitalists and the true trend of a complete break with the past and replacing the system of exploitation with that of the most advanced elements of political thought and institutions.

The events of 1947 led to the defeat of the latter line, and yet today the times are calling for organization to meet the failed aspirations of the Indian people. Indeed, the worsening of conditions and intensification of fascist tendencies is because of the irreconcilable contradictions generated by greater concentration of wealth in fewer and fewer hands, and the demand from those at the receiving end for their fair share.

Given these objective conditions, it is now the task of revolutionaries to organize the get society out of this impasse. The CC has crystallized these demands into the slogan of Navnirman, which is what the times are calling for. Let us all unite behind this banner and work for the liberation of the people of India. Let us become a beacon for the future.

The all India general strike has been called to resolutely oppose the course of enriching the capitalist minority by impoverishing the toiling majority. It has been called to assert the rights that belong to workers, peasants and other toiling people who create the wealth of India.

Hum Hain Iske Malik! Hindostan Humara!

Election manifesto of a CGPI supported candidate for Lok SabhaParties of the capitalist class claim that there is no alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation. The truth is that there IS an alternative. The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the program for the Navnirman of India.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
