We mourn the passing away of Comrade Nexhmije Hoxha

Statement of the Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, 3rd April, 2020

Comrade Nexhmije Hoxha passed away at her home in Tirana, Albania, on 26 February, 2020, at the age of 99.

The Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India salutes the memory of this outstanding communist leader, who from the days of her youth, till her last breadth, never wavered in her dedication to the cause of revolution and communism.

Nexhmije Hoxha will be remembered as an outstanding personality for whom principles were more important than life itself. When socialism was being destroyed in Albania in 1991 by the imperialists in collusion with the internal traitors, Nexhmije stood like a rock amongst the shifting sands. Even in the most difficult conditions, she never wavered from her commitment to the cause of communism. She firmly held aloft the banner of the Party, the banner of revolution and socialism. For this, she was arrested and jailed for many years.

After her release in 1997, till her last breath, Comrade Nexhmije continued to boldly defend the life and work of Comrade Enver Hoxha, the party he founded and led, and the socialist society that was built in Albania, through her speeches and writings. She firmly believed that the Albanian people would overcome the great setback they had suffered as a result of the destruction of socialism, and once again march on the road of revolution and socialism.

Born on 8th February, 1921, Nexhmije Hoxha was a communist partisan who worked to organise the people of Albania in a war for liberation of their homeland against the Italian and German occupation forces during the Second World War. The Italian fascists led by Mussolini invaded Albania and occupied it in 1939. As a young school student in her teens, Nexhmije overcame patriarchal pressures and became an active organiser of students and youth against the occupation forces.

Nexhmije was attracted to communism at an early age and was member of the Skodra communist group. Albanian Communists led by Comrade Enver Hoxha realized the necessity for the unification of the different communist groups existing at that time in Albania in a single Marxist Leninist Communist Party. Comrade Enver Hoxha led the communists of Albania in the founding of the Communist Party of Albania in November 1941. Nexhmije was a founding member of the Party.

The Communist Party of Albania organised the masses of Albanian people for the National Liberation War against the Italian occupation forces. Towards this end, the Party organised the anti-fascist National Liberation Front in 1942. Nexhmije Hoxha participated in the Conference as a representative of the Central Committee of the Albanian Communist Youth.

After the liberation of Albania in November 1944 and the establishment of Peoples Democracy, Nexhmjie was charged with many responsibilities by the Party, during the 46 years in which Albania marched on the road of socialism.

The Party of Labour of Albania headed by Comrade Enver Hoxha led the Albanian people in the construction of socialism in the course of waging a heroic struggle against Anglo American imperialism which threatened the very independence of Albania. When the Soviet Union gave up proletarian internationalist principles after the death of Stalin, and began to collude and contend with the US for world domination, the PLA exposed its anti Marxist Leninist role. The PLA never compromised with principles, and exposed all those who betrayed them, whether it be the Yugoslav leaders, the leaders of the Soviet Union or of China. Throughout these years of construction of socialism, Nexhmije stood loyal to the Marxist Leninist line of the Party and defended principles.

Following the destruction of the Soviet Union and the collapse of socialism in Albania, there were many in the world who gave up the red flag of communism and began to recant.

Comrade Nexhmije Hoxha will be remembered as that rare communist personality who boldly and defiantly defended the achievements of revolution and socialism.

The life and work of Nexhmije Hoxha is an example of inspiration for all communists. The Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India sends its heartfelt condolences at the passing away of Comrade Nexhmije to her family and all the Albanian communists.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
