Meeting in Sirsa on birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh

The gram panchayat of Bedwala Gaon in Sirsa district of Haryana, Lok Raj Sangathan and Youth Club of Bedwala village organised a meeting on the occasion of 109th birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on 28th September. Sarpanch of the gram panchayat Srimati Jaspal Kaur, Block member Mehendra Pal, and comrade Ashok Baathla led the function. The function was inaugurated with a floral tribute at the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and thousands of people raised slogans “Inquilaab zindabad”; “Long live Shaheed Bhagat Singh!”, “Long live all our Martyrs!”


Vigorous demonstration at the Delhi Lt Governor’s office

Seven communist parties organised a joint demonstration on 26th September 2016 to protest against the continued failure of the Delhi Government and the Delhi Municipal Corporations in preventing the spread of serious diseases like dengue, chikungunya and malaria. This protest was organised outside the office of the Delhi Lt Governor Mr Najeeb Jung.

The first two weeks of September witnessed large scale arson, violence, and destruction in several areas of Karnataka, including many parts of Bengaluru city as well as in parts of Tamilnadu. In Karnataka, Shops and establishments with Tamil names were attacked and destroyed, and trucks, buses and other motor vehicles bearing TN registration numbers were set on fire. On the other side of the border, people from Karnataka were mobbed, their shops and businesses vandalized.


Arunachal Pradesh

Indictment of multi-party parliamentary democracy

On 16th September, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu and 42 MLAs of the Congress party in Arunachal Pradesh walked out of the Congress Party and joined the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA). Only one MLA – NabamTuki, the previous Chief Minister, remained in the Congress Party.


109th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Enthusiastic celebrations in Delhi

At the initiative of Punjabi Academy and Bhagat Singh Association, the youth of Rohini in Delhi celebrated the 109th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat with great enthusiasm by organizing “Punjabi Sabhyachar Mela”. Lok Raj Sangathan was invited to organise and participate in the programme. Hundreds of children, women and youth participated enthusiastically in the programme. Revolutionary and patriotic songs, bhangra dance, gidda, sword fights, made the programme very interesting.


Honda workers continue with their hunger strike

The hunger strike of the workers of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) at Jantar Mantar has been continuing since 19th September 2016. HMSI is located at Tepukheda, Alwar on the border of Rajasthan and Haryana. The workers have been in struggle since February 2016 demanding their right to form a union of their choice, for implementation of labour laws in the company, against the Haryana and Rajasthan governments’ atrocities on the oppressed workers and for taking back the dismissed workers.


Homage to Com. Swapan Mukherjee

Com. Swapan Mukherjee, member of Politburo of CPI-ML (Liberation) and Founding General Secretary of AICCTU has passed away. He died an untimely death at 63 years on 6th September 2016 at Chandigarh.

Com. Mukherjee’s death is a loss to the communist and workers’ movement. Communist Ghadar Party offers its condolences to CPI-ML (Liberation), AICCTU, Com. Mukherjee’s family and friends at this moment of grief.


Protests at Parliament against the growing attacks on people

Several organisations demonstrated at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to protest against the growing attacks and atrocities against Muslims, Christians, Dalits and tribal people across the country. Jamait-e-Islami Hind, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushavarat, Jamiyatul Ulema Hind, Jamiyat Ahele Hadis, Lok Raj Sangathan, Akhil Bharatiya Shia Council, All India Student Islamic Organisation, APCR and Lok Samiti organized the demonstration. Representatives of all the organisations addressed the meeting.


Meeting on Communal Violence at Baroda Railway Colony

On September 18thLok Raj Sangathan(LRS) and Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) organised a presentation on Communal Violence: Roots and Solution, to a large group of railway workers at  Railway Colony, Baroda, Gujarat. The presentation and discussion lasted from 11AM to 2.15 PM.

Com Kulsheshta, All India Station Masters Association, welcomed everybody and invited the representatives of LRS and KEC to make the presentation. The railway workers, who had gathered despite the very heavy rain in the city, included several loco pilots and guards.


Basis for caste discrimination


I am writing to congratulate you on carrying the excellent and in-depth article `The Indian State perpetuates caste discrimination and oppression' carried in the September 1-15, 2016 issue of MEL which carries the by-line `Emancipation of Dalits from caste oppression can come only through the class struggle of the proletariat to end all forms of exploitation and discrimination'.
