Applicants for jobs in Indian Railway sit on dharna

Applicants who had applied for jobs in the Indian Railway against one lakh openings sat on a dharna in Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from 2nd March 2020. They are demanding that recruitment process should be commenced immediately. In this context, they submitted a petition to the Rail Minister, Piyush Goel.

Demonstrators told that the Indian Railway had advertised 1,03,769 posts in CCR group-D last year on 23rd February and on 28th February 2019 RRB NTPC invited applications against 35,277 openings. There were 2.5 crore applications submitted however, government has not started the process of recruitment yet.

Demonstrators said that from time to time they have been demanding that government releases a time table for recruitment process. They want the process to begin so that they get a job. Without a job their life has become extremely difficult.

The are now demanding that the government immediately release a time table. They have issued a warning that they will sit on a indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar until the time table is announced.
