The Constitution empowers the Party with majority support in the Central Parliament to impose its will on all. Even if lakhs and lakhs of people are opposed to a law passed by Parliament, they cannot do anything about it. The Central government can invoke provisions in the Constitution to impose a legislation even if numerous state governments and crores of people are opposed to it.

Demand for wage revision: Bank unions across India go on 2-day strike

2-Day bank strike

Bank unions across the county went on strike in 31st January and 1st February 2020, after wage revision talks with the Indian Banks Association (IBA) failed. Wage revision in the sector has been pending since November 2017.

Statement of Delhi Regional Committee of Communist Ghadar Party of India, February 1, 2020

An estimated 1.46 crore voters of Delhi will cast their votes on February 8, 2020, to choose their representatives for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. The main contending political parties in these elections are – the BJP which currently heads the central government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is currently in charge of the government of Delhi and the Congress Party. The BJP has an alliance with the Janata Dal (United) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) while the Congress Party has an alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). In these elections for the 70 seats of the Vidhan Sabha, there are also several communist candidates, candidates representing smaller political parties and independent candidates.
